Every other Wednesday, the MAT Youth Centre (in partnership with FCSS) runs free a drop-in program for Fort MacLeod youth ages 11-18. Our goal is to provide a dynamic, positive, non-judgmental space for all youth who come through our doors - mentoring youth in their current journey, assisting youth in their immediate needs, and transforming their lives for the future. Our vision is that all youth are active parts of the community, live healthy lifestyles, understand the importance of uniqueness, and contribute valuable leadership for future generations.

Drop-in nights are primarily unstructured, so youth can participate in whatever activities they'd like - sports, games, crafts, snacks, and more. Adult staff and volunteers act as mentors and role models, and can also connect youth with community supports and resources.

Reporting to the Youth Services Supervisor and the Fort MacLeod Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping the Fort MacLeod Coordinator plan and implement programming, building positive relationships with youth participants, and maintaining a ratio of 1 adult per 8 youth. As an intern, you will also have the opportunity to plan your own nights of drop-in programming, gaining valuable program planning and youth work experience! If you're enthusiastic, have a positive attitude, and are eager to encourage others, this is the perfect position for you.

For more information, please visit our website thematlethbridge.com or email Tessa at youthsupervisor@bcglethbridge.com.

Hours: 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm every other Wednesday plus 0-1 hour per week of program planning time to be arranged with the Fort MacLeod Coordinator, for a total of approximately 45 hours (~4 months). The internship will begin as soon as the right candidate is found.
