BowWest Community Resource Centre is a Calgary based non-profit, providing information, referrals, and resources to individuals and families living in northwest communities. The Communications Intern at BowWest will utilize their research and writing abilities to assist in building BowWest's communications list of external community newsletters, and create and implement a plan for future newsletter mail outs.


The Communications Intern will:

  • Develop an information database/work plan, which includes the newsletter information and contacts for northwest communities for the entire year
  • Assist in creating content for the newsletters, according to BowWest's initiatives and programs relevant to the time of year
  • Create posters and media templates for BowWest's programs
  • Assist with social media outlets, and creating monthly themes for a calendar year (for example, the month of April is dedicated to Tax Clinics; summer months would be outdoor programs, etc)

Some specialized skills required:

  • Creative thinker
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • The intern is to be self-directed and is able to meet deadlines

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:

  • Create content for newsletters to promote information about BowWest's initiatives and programs
  • Assisting in creating a workplan for BowWest's digital and print communications strategy
