The coordinator will support the work of the McCauley Community Convener to increase awareness of - and participation in - the Safer McCauley initiative. The coordinator will collect community knowledge that will determine how to focus resources in response to community safety concerns. 

Job Duties

  • Through direct community engagement, the intern will:
    • Build awareness of – and encourage participation in - the Safer McCauley crime prevention initiative
    • Gather community knowledge regarding priority safety concerns and the collective definition of a safer community
    • Distribute information to community members regarding available safety-related resources
    • Collect environmental data regarding the McCauley community
    • Attend and support community events
  • Through data analysis, the intern will:
    • Contribute to the development of community-driven crime prevention strategies in response to identified needs and issues
    • Contribute to the building and strengthening of relationships within the community - and between the community and external supports

The intern will provided with daily support and weekly review from REACH Edmonton staff.

Some specialized skills required:

  • Empathy and interest in advocacy
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Basic data entry, knowledge of word, excel, google docs

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:

  • Distribute information to community members regarding available safety-related resources
  • Support REACH Edmonton`s McCauley Community Convener with ongoing development of the Safer McCauley crime prevention initiative
  • Collect and organize community knowledge to prioritize safety concerns and build a collective definition of a safer community
  • Attend McCauley Community League, Revitalization, Business Association and Safer McCauley events
  • Analysis of collected data to be used for the development of community-driven crime prevention initiatives
