The intern will work closely with the Battle River Group, a consortium of organizations that are hosting the 2019 Lt. Governor of Alberta Arts Awards. For more information, check here:

"In Their Footsteps" is an exciting regional project involving a number of cooperating organizations. For example, some items will be coming to our project from the Aboriginal Museum of Arts and Artifacts at Portage College, Lac la Biche 

This work relating to this project and exhibition is based at the Camrose Station Museum and Park

The overall project promotes learning about Alberta histories and cultures by depicting life stories and experiences through the footwear that real people have worn. Examples consist of hand crafted new and old indigenous mocassins, snow shoes, etc; miner boots worn during the coal mining periods in the region; farmer boots; nurses shoes; shoes of regional celebrities and heroes; refugee shoes; shoes handcrafted for special purposes in developing countries - including the countries from which new refugees have come to Alberta; etc.

The PROMOTIONS-MARKETING Intern will actively engage with other project team members to develop and launch a public relations program that will educate people about the overall project and exhibition and bring visitors into the exhibition.

Ideal for someone with course work in:

  • Marketing
  • Art and Design
  • Applied Business Administration
  • Adult and Community Education
  • Aboriginal Entrepreneurship

Some specialized skills required:

  • Excitement about the overall project and able to convey that excitement to the public.
  • Able to build and execute a marketing-promotions plan
  • Confidence in outreach; for example with print and audio-visual media
  • Able to work with other project team members to coordinate/promotion project information in interesting ways
  • Able to translate ideas into promotional-marketing format
  • Keen interest in communications

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:

  • As evaluation report re. what approaches worked well and which did not
  • Compilation of all marketing-promotions activities
  • Evidence of regular, identified outreach
  • A workable marketing-promotions plan within the project timeframe
