This is an exciting opportunity to build skills and experience in the areas of human resources and volunteer management.

Responsibilities of the Volunteer Director

  • Work with Volunteer Director to finalize the master schedule for all volunteers
  • Support daily volunteer check-in and coordination during the tournament
  • Support volunteers training and ensure all volunteer paperwork is completed
  • Ensure volunteers are supported and recognized for their work throughout the tournament
  • Support Volunteer Director in collecting feedback from volunteers

 

Time Commitment (approximate)

  • 1-2 hours per week May to July
  • 10 hours in the week preceding tournament
  • 3-5 hours per day during the tournament

 

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French is an asset)
  • Demonstrated reliability and organizational ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Reliable transportation to and from the tournament site
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry is an asset
  • Familiarity with the sport of Ultimate in Edmonton is an asset

 

Supervision

The Volunteer Director will report to the TOC.

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:

  • Support the Volunteer Director in management of 200+ volunteers for the 2019 Canadian Ultimate Championships being held in Edmonton, August 11-18, 2019.
