The Parkinson Association of Alberta is the voice of Albertans and their families living with Parkinson’s. Our purpose is to ease the burden and find a cure through research, education, advocacy and support services.   


The Flexxaire Parkinson Step ‘n Stride Volunteer Coordinator will assist the Fund Development Manager with all aspects of the volunteer coordination for the walk taking place in September 2019.



Second year or Third year in Volunteer Management, Recreation, Marketing, Events or Fund Development.

Ability to plan, implement and evaluate a plan to secure adequate numbers of volunteers for the walk.

The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable and able to work in a team environment.

Experience recruiting, training and evaluating volunteers will be an asset.

A reliable vehicle will be needed for this position and mileage will be reimbursed.


Time Commitment:

The preparation for the Flexxaire Parkinson Step ‘n Stride will begin in April 2019 with the bulk of the work completed by August 31, 2019.  Attendance at the Flexxaire Parkinson Step ‘n Stride on September 7, 2019 will be expected.



Create a plan for securing volunteers for the various positions at the walk.

Create job descriptions for all positions.

Establish a positive working relationship with the Fund Development Manager and the rest of the team.

Establish a positive and effective working relationship with volunteers.

Recruit volunteers for all positions at the walk.

Create a program for recognizing the volunteer’s work.

Create a database for volunteers.



Reports to Manager Events, Edmonton Office.

Intern will work in the Edmonton office, Parkinson Association of Alberta for preparatory work and will attend weekly meetings with the Coordinator, Events.



Working with the clients of Parkinson Association of Alberta will be a rewarding experience.  You will gain knowledge about Parkinson disease specifically and working with people with a neurological condition and mobility issues as well.

You will have the opportunity to plan, implement, and market and evaluate an integral part of the largest fund raiser for Parkinson Association of Alberta in the Edmonton area.



The successful candidate will receive a letter of recommendation and any completed work for their portfolio.

The intern will be encouraged to post regularly on our Facebook page as well.
