Interns will partner with the Medicine Hat Police Service and Medicine Hat Safe Community Assoc. to provide the Child ID service.  This service registers children and parent info along with a photo into a database. This info can be retrieved and immediately electronically sent to Officers should a child get lost or go missing.

This service is provided at a large summer public event and has grown exponentially in that last 3 years, registering thousands of children.

The interns promote and deliver this service and provide invaluable feedback to the Safe Community Assoc., regarding improvements to the service.

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Safe Community Association Board, Support and act as rescource to volunteers at the events, Orientate new volunteers to child identification process, register parents and children, accurately record pertinent information, engage parents to register children in child find program, set up and take down of event tents and stands, attend 4 child identification events as determined by Medicine Hat Safe Community Association Community Unit, and attend training for the child identification process at Medicine Hat Police Station.
