The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta (CPAA) is looking for interns to plans and executes inclusive, community-based events that foster social skills and independence among persons with disabilities while allowing them to experience recreational options within their community. The successful applicants will demonstrate leadership in communicating and organizing with colleagues, as well as planning skills and creativity in executing event ideas.

The interns are responsible for working with a group of EMUG (Edmonton Meet up Group) committee volunteers to plan bi-weekly, community-based activities for the CPAA clients:

  1. Attend monthly planning committee meetings
  2. Coordinate planning 2 community, accessible events per month
  3. Plan potlucks and/or other fun events (karaoke nights, dinners, Easter Party, picnic)
  4. Assist the planning committee in obtaining information regarding venues and events
  5. Assist with booking, when needed
  6. Support promoting the independence of the CPAA clients

In this internship students will gain: 

  • Hands-on experience in data base entry and administrative support
  • Hands-on experience in delivering/coordinating events and meetings
  • Hands-on experience with working with people with disabilities
