The Works International Visual Arts Society presents The Works Art & Design Festival: 13 days of art and design exhibits, special events, music, workshops, and family programming. Attracting artists, designers and visitors from all around the world, this city-wide event boosts the energy and imagination of downtown Edmonton at the start of every summer. Free to the public, The Works strives to create barrier free access to art and design. The festival dates this year are June 20 to July 2, 2019.
We are calling for 3 artist assistants to work directly with exhibiting artists to help realize major projects for the festival. This position includes preparation, installation, and the dismantling of works on the festival site. The 2019 festival theme Code embraces socially engaged practices, collaborative artworks, artworks involving research, works that include multiple voices or represent a conversation, as well as work that seeks to understand through genuine outreach.
This internship will run May through July, 2019. Interns will work at the festival site, The Works main office in McCauley, and possibly at the home or studio of exhibiting artists.

- experience with power and hand tools in a workshop setting.
- ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:
- Act as an artist assistant and provide support in exhibition production
- Assist artists in realizing their vision and produce major works for The Works Art & Design Festival.
