The Works International Visual Arts Society presents The Works Art & Design Festival: 13 days of art and design exhibits, special events, music, workshops, and family programming. Attracting artists, designers and visitors from all around the world, this city-wide event boosts the energy and imagination of downtown Edmonton at the start of every summer. Free to the public, The Works strives to create barrier free access to art and design. The festival dates are June 21 to July 3, 2018.

Every year, we depend on the contributions of over 200 volunteers to achieve a successful festival. We're looking for a personable and enthusiastic intern interested in gaining valuable experience in volunteer management for a large scale arts festival. The intern will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that Works' volunteers have a meaningful and rewarding experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with recruitment by maintaining postings and attending recruitment events
  • Interviewing, orienting and scheduling volunteers
  • Acting as a point of contact for volunteers with questions or concerns
  • Contributing to an inviting and rewarding atmosphere for volunteers.

Expected date range for this internship is February through July, 2018. Intern must have daytime, weekday availability, with some evening and weekend availability leading up to the festival. Work will take place in office and on the festival site.
