We are a non-profit organization working to improve race relations in Canada. Our headquarters is in Calgary, but our work reaches a national basis. Our mandate is to help bring multicultural understanding and mitigate racism. We understand a big part of that starts with our children and youth.
We are currently in the process of getting feedback from Alberta K-12 teachers through online surveys, as well as in person interviews. The survey and interviews are about multicultural education within the curriculum, their classroom, and the school.
We are looking for a Research Study Intern who can get more teachers to fill out the surveys, as well as doing some in-person interviews. This will be a small part of the position. The rest will be to look over the results and write a report summary on our findings. Here is a great example of another report: http://aaisa.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/alberta-syrian-refugee-resettlement-study_final.pdf
We require someone who has experience with writing, researching, and analyzing various documents and media in order to put concepts together. We need someone who is comfortable working from home, but will be required to join meetings in person or online or phone from time to time. Ideally we would prefer someone who has studied race relations or social work and has completed research before. The person should also know how to properly reference research articles. Knowledge of the Alberta curriculum is an asset as well.
We will be releasing this report on our website and to the media. The writer's name will be acknowledged in the report and they are welcome to write about it in their resume.
